The print depicts a night scene with fireworks and a triumphal arch erected in Frankfurt am Main in celebration of the birth of the future Emperor Joseph I. The arch appears in the center of the composition, built on a platform surrounded by water. A dark, amorphous landscape extends behind the arch into the night sky. Numerous fireworks explode from pyrotechnical devices at water level in the foreground and in the surrounding landscape, creating a spectacular display in the dark sky. The arch is decorated with coats of arms, imperial insignia and the double-headed Habsburg eagle. The pediment bears the word "VIVAT"; the letters "I.I.I.I.A.E." appear within the architrave. In front of the arch, three obelisks are decorated with coats of arms; the obelisk in the middle is topped by the imperial orb. The area above the arch is inscribed: "CAELO FAVENTE". Several groups of human figures gather near the arch, watching the fireworks, or attending canons in an open field on the right.
